Last year, I spent my milestone birthday in Salzburg. This was my first time in the city and I was very excited. When I arrived in Salzburg on Palm Sunday, it was a cold and overcast day late in March. But I didn’t care, I thought it was my birthday and I’m in Salzburg.
Last year my birthday fell on a Palm Sunday. Since it was Palm Sunday, the old cathedral was celebrating Palm Sunday mass. My day trip to Salzburg made me forget I’m one year older. I occupied myself by walking around the old city center and taking numerous photographs of beautiful buildings and monuments I saw. I was so excited of my first trip to Salzburg, that again, I took way too many photos.
Here is my photo journey through old Salzburg.
I arrived in Salzburg via train from Munich. The train ride from Munich to Salzburg took less than two hours. The main train station in Salzburg is nowhere near the old city center. You need to take a bus to get the old city center from the main train station. The fare is minimal and there are several bus stops outside the train station. The bus is the easiest and cheapest way to get to the cathedral, the old Fortress, Mozart’s childhood home and St. Peter’s Church.Google+
