During my one day trip to the Alsatian city of Strasbourg, one of the things I was able to do is to go to a one-hour river cruise. The only company I saw during this kind of service to visitors in Strasbourg is called Batorama recommended by the local tourist information office.
If available, I would often take river cruises whenever I go to a new city. In my eyes, river cruises gives the visitor a different maybe even a broader perspective of the city. At one point in history, rivers were used as highways for transporting goods and other commodities in barges and various vessels for trade and commerce. Imagine working in an industry as such that gives you an opportunity to see towns and cities from that angle.
For my trip to Strasbourg, I saw the city and learned about its history in this river cruise. It is clean that most of the people of Strasbourg lived and worked around its river banks. They had made their livelihood off the river even now. In this river cruise, I saw the history of Strasbourg from the a few centuries ago to the present day. This history is what seem to have made Strasbourg the great city it had become.
