To many people, Napa is one of the best places in the United States producing good wine and good food. Though both are true, little do most people know the city of Napa itself was an old pioneer town where settlers from the East Coast such as Sam Brennan of the famous Brennan Street in San Francisco tried their luck during the gold rush days of the mid-1800’s. It was from this time the first residents of Napa stayed and some never left in a spiritual manner of speaking. From the establishing family of Napa, the Coombs, to the serial killer who murdered a couple, to a judge who had been guarding the old courthouse for more than a century after his death, to the woman slain by the infamous Zodiac killer, Napa Valley’s residents of the supernatural type are the lesser known history of this world famous wine-making region of the United States.
A small local company called Napa Ghost Tours established by two paranormal experts would be happy to lead visitors twice a week giving all a short history lesson of Napa introducing them to the town’s old residents. The tour guides will meet interested visitors at the historic courthouse in Brown Street and Third Street where most of the paranormal events happen. Then leading all to the two old buildings at Main Street now converted to swanky upscale restaurants with stories about the Zodiac killer. Using tools such as a K2 meter and a pair of dowsing rods the tour guides allow visitors to communicate even ask the spirits questions. But do not fret. These old residents will not harm you. I bet this is one side of Napa Valley you did not imagine.
I don’t want to give any more away. If you would like to learn about this part of the history of Napa, you will just have to sign up for a tour with this company. Tours are done on Thursday and Saturday evenings and can be book online at their website at www.napaghosts.com. The same company also offers ghost tours in the nearby cities of Sonoma, Benicia and Petaluma.Google+
