It’s the most wonderful time of the year or at least that’s what the song says. This statement had been true at this time of year for many reasons. The weather is getting cold and crisp. There are two important holidays within a month’s time celebrated with family and feasting. One of which includes gift-giving as part of the festivities. In the U.S., these important holidays are Thanksgiving Day (celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November) and Christmas Day.
One of the traditions of Christmas most people find quite fun and exciting is shopping for Christmas presents. Some people go all out for Christmas presents purchasing big ticket items. Others stick to a strict budget careful not to put them in deep debt. I personally believe in giving people thoughtful gift without breaking the bank. Thoughtful gifts in my opinion are gifts that recipients would appreciate according to their interests and taste. Travelers are a different breed of people who would appreciate certain items for Christmas presents. Last year, I wrote a similar post about what gifts travelers would appreciate. Here is another list of items they would appreciate.
Scarf or Pashmina – For cold flights and chilly destinations. But there are another purposes to giving scarves or pashmina to travelers. These can be used for visiting places that would require women to wear one such as mosques. It can also he used as a blanket not just in flights but also during train rides.
Gloves and mittens – either knitted, fleece or leather, it is always a good idea to have a pair for traveling during the winter months. There are many versions of knitted gloves and mittens for a trendier look. For a more classic style, stick to leather gloves.
Beanie – here is another stocking stuffer that comes in knitted or fleece forms that can keep every traveler warm during outdoor activities. They do not just keep your head warm but it can also help hide bad hair days while traveling. Some are made for practical reasons, others for the more fashion forward with shimmering threading and knit ball.
Scented candles – no one said that you could not make your hotel bathroom look like a spa. Small jars and containers of scented candles are great to have a relaxing evening after a long day of tours and visits. It would also be a good idea to give scented candles in containers that includes a secure lid and I recommend you pack this in your checked bag.
Bath fizz – since we are in the subject of spas, another bath item one could give a traveler are bath fizz. These little balls of bubble bath in a form of a solid is great for soaking in the bath tub after a long day of walking and sightseeing. They come in different scents, too. One ball of bath fizz is good for one full bath.
Individual packets of face mask – another idea to have a spa experience while traveling. You can continue your beauty regimen while traveling with individual face mask whether they are individual sheets or cream or mud form. All it takes is a few minutes on the a clean face before going to bed. They make them for different skin types.
Sleeping mask – Some people, in order to sleep on the plane or an unfamiliar place such as a hotel would need something like a sleeping mask to be able to rest soundly and fully. Some people prefer a soft and silky sleeping mask, others would like the gel form. There is even something that looks like it is made of neoprene. Regardless of their preference, travelers would certainly appreciate this as a stocking stuffer.
Mini backpacks – for day trips and other activities, mini backpacks are great to keep your hands free for all kinds of activities while traveling. It is also big enough to keep your personal items including a small wallet, your phone and maybe a small camera.
Mini perfume tubes – perfect for putting a tube or two of your favorite perfume or eau du toilet in your toiletry or make-up bag. This is also a perfect stocking stuffer to the avid and fashion-forward traveler. Some of these come in tubes of different scents in a box set often available especially during the holidays.
Travel-sized lip color and lip balm – A lot of cosmetics companies are not packaging some of their products in small, travel-sized sticks in sets of different colors especially during the holidays. You can bring just one or all of the colors for different kinds of day and evening looks. These are also perfect as a stocking stuffer.
Cozy socks – for chilly flights and chilly nights, knitted and cozy socks are also perfect gift to the avid and active traveler. These warm and cozy socks are perfect for hiking during the day or just seating by a warm fire. There are also some made perfect for active pursuits such as skiing and snowboarding.
Hot chocolate or coffee packets with travel mug set – some people find this a little too simple but for those like me who likes to do day trips even in the chillier months, a cup of hot cocoa in a travel mug an keep us warm especially when visiting places early in the morning.
Cozy comfy pajamas – whether you like the pajama sets or just the pajama bottoms, cozy flannel pajamas are always appreciated. I always find it a good idea to bring a pair when traveling. They come in different colors and print and often in different price points.
Sherpa-lined or fleece hoodie – Cozy up with a Sherpa-lined hoodie during the cold winter months. This is also great to wear traveling in chilly flights. For these types of hoodies, I would recommend investing on a good quality fleece hoodie from the sporting goods store or a place such as Uniqlo for good quality sherpa-lined hoodie.
Make-up bag and Toiletry bag – Though TSA requires you to have your toiletries in a clear plastic zipper bag, what about your other items such as make-up, medication and other personal products. Make-up bag and toiletry bag are perfect for keep these miscellaneous items organized in your luggage. You can also find make-up bag and toiletry bag.
These items are available in the mentioned stores (and their websites) around the U.S. Some of the items you see in this post are items I personally own and use. Have fun shopping and giving!
